Allie Ostrander, a 2015 Kenai Central graduate, finished ninth at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday to lead Boise State to fourth place.
The Soldotna runner and redshirt sophomore, who won the event in 2015, was 26th two kilometers into the six-kilometer race but moved up late in the race to assure that her streak of never finishing outside the top 10 in a collegiate race would continue. Her time was 20 minutes and 0.2 seconds.
Boise State entered the prestigious race as the seventh-highest ranked team in the field, but pack running allowed the Broncos to finish above 11 ranked teams.
New Mexico won the women’s title, led by individual champion Ednah Kurgat.
