The Anchorage Glacier Pilots defeated the Peninsula Oilers 7-5 on Tuesday in Alaska Baseball League action at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
The Oilers saw a four-game winning streak snapped by the Pilots, who won for a third straight time.
The season series between the two squads is tied at 2. The Oilers and the Pilots play Wednesday at Mulcahy at 6 p.m., then finish the season series off with five games from July 20 to 24 at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
The Anchorage Bucs lead the league at 15-11, while the Mat-Su Miners and Pilots are a half game back at 14-11. The Oilers (9-14) and the Chinooks (10-15) both trail by 4.5 games.
The Oilers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Owen McElfatrick, Drewbie Pinkston and Theo Forshey had hits. The Pilots cut it to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning.
Peninsula increased the lead to 3-1 in the second when Michael Elko scored on a McElfatrick sacrifice fly. The Pilots would tie the game in the third and take the lead for good in the fourth.
McElfatrick finished 2 for 4 with a couple of RBIs, while Pinkston was 2 for 5, Forshey was 2 for 4 and Elko was 2 for 4. Ryson Ujimori also had an RBI triple.
Aidan Gonzalez took the loss for the Oilers, going four innings and allowing four runs on six hits while walking four and striking out four.
Sam Silversmith went two innings and gave up three runs — one earned — on two hits while striking out two and walking three.
Mose Hayes, of Legion Twins and Homer High fame, pitched the final two innings and did now allow a run, giving up two hits while striking out one.
