Results posted for Mineshaft Grinder in Hope

The Kenai Mountains-Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area put on the Mineshaft Grinder on Saturday, Aug. 10, in Hope.

According to the KMTA website, the event looks to raise funds that will be used for outdoor education planning at Hope School that connects students with natural and cultural heritage.

The Mineshaft Grinder has three different events.

The Gold Grinder is a bike race of about 11 miles to the end of Palmer Creek Road, but the real challenge is climbing up about 1,900 feet.

The Silver Grinder is a running race. It is a half marathon that goes on Palmer Creek Road to Nearhouse Mine and then back to Hope School.

The Quartz Grinder also is a running race. It is 8.8 miles long. It goes to the top of the switchbacks on Palmer Creek Road, then back down to Hope School.
