The eighth annual Tri Nikiski was held Saturday at the Nikiski Pool.

The event features a 500-yard swim, 10.6-mile bike ride and 5-kilometer run.

Jon Iannaccone was the top men’s finisher at 1:00:36, while Mick Bakker was second at 1:03:11 and Justin Walton was third at 1:13:39.

Morgan Aldridge led the women at 1:05:45, while Heather Melzer was next at 1:07:56 and Pamela Schamber was third at 1:09:00.

Team Jorgensen, made up of Lynzie Jorgensen and Miles Jorgensen, was the first team at 1:25:35.

Team R & Double J, made up of Jan Darch, Rena Kornstad and Jill Evoy, was second at 1:35:05.

Team Totally Unprepared, made up of Jenna Fabian, Sarah Segura and Kaitlyn Morse, was third at 1:35:20.

The top youth was Mira Franz at 1:32:54.

The event also did a kids triathlon for the first time for ages 7 to 11. Olivia Dolifka was first, Lily McGahan was second and Amelia Stone was third. This was a 50-yard swim, 2-mile bike and run of less than a mile.

The event is put on by The Compass, which helps the youth of Alaska navigate teen years. Proceeds of the event go to local groups.
