Runners, bikers race for animals

Race Like an Animal was a joint event hosted by Tsalteshi Trails and the Alaska Wildlife Alliance

Sam Zlotnik and Ollie Dahl took top finishes at Race Like an Animal, a joint event hosted by Tsalteshi Trails and the Alaska Wildlife Alliance in celebration of the latter’s 45th anniversary.

The event featured both a 5-kilometer run and a 10-kilometer bike.

In the run, Zlotnik posted the top finish at 22 minutes and 53 seconds. Rounding out the men’s top three were Rustin Hitchcock at 23:48 and Todd Murdoch at 23:51. First woman to finish was Sarah Apsans at 27:09. She was followed by Frances Jurek at 30:14 and Laura Karchere at 32:05.

In the 10-kilometer bike, Ollie Dahl took the win at 19:49, followed roughly a minute later by Nels Dahl at 20:54. The top three was rounded out by Tom Seggerman at 21:34.
