The Chippewa (Wisconsin) Steel defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears 3-2 on Saturday in North American Hockey League action at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
After winning the first two games of the series, the Steel will look for a sweep Sunday at 5 p.m.
Chippewa jumped on top with a goal by Peyton Platter just 1:44 into the game.
With 13:22 left in the first, Nick Stevens scored on the power play for the Bears, assisted by Dylan Contreras and Roope Tuomioksa.
With just 27 seconds left in the first period, Tomas Trunda put the Steel up 2-1.
With 14:41 left in the second, Lukas Peterson put Chippewa up 3-1.
With 13:18 left in the second, Tuomioksa lit the lamp on the power play with help from Contreras and Stevens.
Chippewa goalie Ajay White and Kenai River goalie Owen Zenone would keep clean sheets the rest of the way. White had 26 saves, while Zenone stopped 35.
