The Homer girls won the Donlin Gold Invitational in Bethel on Saturday by defeating Unalakleet 69-45 to finish with a 3-0 tourney record. The Mariners also move to 6-5 overall.
The game was tied at 17 after the first quarter, but Homer led 36-28 at halftime and 51-33 after three quarters.
Minadora Reutov had 17 for Homer, while Channing Lowney had 16, Sydney Shelby had 12, Lillie Mae Kuhn had 7, Juliann Techie had 4, and Mally Im, Keagan Niebuhr and Madalyn Miotke all had 2.
Shelby was named MVP of the tournament, becoming MVP of a tourney for the second straight week.
Raleen Bradley put in 26 for Unalakleet, but Homer was able to hold her to 6 in the second half. Also, Violet Jack had 8, while Lizabeth Ivanoff had 5, and Keely Johnson, Cedar Busk and Ourea Busk all had 2.
The Homer boys lost 75-63 to Unalakleet to finish 0-3 at the tournament and fall to 2-9 overall.
For Unalakleet, Paxson Commack had 27, while Trevin Soderstorm and Isaac Smith had 12, Brisol Burress and Trenton Soderstorm had 9, and Josh Smith had 6.
For Homer, Spencer Dye hit seven 3-pointers on the way to 21 points, while CJ Burns had 20. Nathan Overson added 12 for the Mariners, while Lucas Story had 6, and Riley Hoffman and Einar Pederson had 2.
Lumen Christi Classic Basketball Tournament
The Cook Inlet Academy boys finished 3-0 at the tournament to claim the title. CIA is now 7-2 overall.
Saturday, CIA topped Tanalian 82-17. Alek McGarry had 20 to pace the Eagles, while Ian McGarry had 15, Brandt Rollman had 12, Brady Baeten had 11, Jeremy Dillingham had 9, Matthew Phillips had 7, Lucas Oyoumick had 5 and Owen Braband had 3.
The CIA girls finished 0-3 at the tournament and dropped to 0-9 overall with a 42-29 loss to Tanalian on Saturday.
Ella Rollman had 25 for the Eagles, while Kristi Stoll and Gabrielle Viefeld each had 2.
For Tanalian, Mikiah Lorentzen had 20, while Brielle Lorentzen had 10, Teagan Smith had 7 and Jordan Alsworth had 5.
Alek McGarry was named MVP for the tournament, while Ian McGarry also made the all-tournament team. For the girls, Rebekah Dillingham and Ella Rollman made all-tournament.
41st Annual Cordova Tip-Off in Cordova
The Ninilchik girls finished 2-1 at the tournament while the Wolverines boys were 1-2.
Kade McCorison won the tourney MVP for Ninilchik, while Rowan Mahoney also made the boys all-tournament team. Wolverines girls on the all-tournament team were Riley Tucker and Addi McCorison.
Ninilchik’s Kylee Rickard won the free-throw competition, while the boy/girl team hot spot contest went to Carter Lemons and Taylor Rickard.
The Ninilchik girls beat Cordova 33-20 on Saturday to move to 5-3 overall.
Riley Tucker pumped in 23 points to lead the Wolverines, while Addi McCorison had 6, Taylor Rickard had 3 and Klohie Hughes had 1.
Also Saturday, the Cordova boys topped Ninilchik 77-68 as the Wolverines dropped to 7-3 overall.
Kade McCorison poured in 33 to lead Ninilchik, while Rowan Mahoney had 25, Max Russell had 7 and Carter Lemons had 3.
Wasilla girls 66, Soldotna 25
The visiting Warriors dropped the Stars to 2-2 in the Northern Lights Conference and 5-5 overall with the Saturday victory.
For Wasilla, Mylee Anderson had 16, Layla Hays had 12, Savannah Kroon had 9, Mielee-Mylz Merchant and Katie Jackson had 8, Kinley Lynch and Livia Breshears had 4, Kyndra Boling had 3 and KK Bruno had 2.

The visiting Warriors notched a Northern Lights Conference victory on Saturday to drop the Stars to 1-3 in the league and 4-6 overall.
SoHi led 16-10 after the first quarter and 27-22 at halftime. The Warriors had a 41-38 lead after three quarters.
Noah Kroon had 21 for the Warriors, while Gavin Morris had 17, Ryder Howard had 8, Barak Wagle had 7, and Aiden Pharr and Tristan Horton had 3.
