The Peninsula Oilers defeated the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 1-0 on Saturday at the Alaska Baseball League Scouts Showcase at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
After also shutting out the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the first day of the showcase Friday, the Oilers have yet to allow a run in front of the scouts.
Showcase games are seven innings and don’t count in the league standings.
The Oilers finish play at the showcase at 6 p.m. Sunday against the Mat-Su Miners. Peninsula also plays the Miners in the home opener at Coral Seymour Memorial Park at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Oilers got the lone run of the game against the Chinooks in the fifth inning.
Chugiak-Eagle River outhit Peninsula six to four in the game. Colin Robson had a pair of hits for the Oilers, while Petey Soto had a double and Cole Dawson also had a hit.
