The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks defeated the Peninsula Oilers 8-1 on Saturday in Alaska Baseball League action at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
The game was tight until the top of the ninth inning, when the Chinooks padded a 2-1 lead by scoring six runs after two were out.
Mason Corneliussen took the loss for giving up the six runs in two-thirds of an inning.
Robert Winslow got the victory for the Chinooks, pitching the first six innings and giving up just two hits and no runs.
Winslow struck out two while walking one.
The teams conclude the three-game series today with a 2 p.m. game against the Chinooks.
