The American Legion Twins split a pair of games with Eagle River on Saturday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai, winning the league game 4-2 before dropping the nonleague contest 10-0.
Both Eagle River and the Twins are now tied atop the league standings at 4-1, with Eagle River 7-1 overall and the Twins 6-3 overall.
The Twins host Wasilla today at Seymour Park, with the league game starting at 1 p.m. and the nonleague game set for 3 p.m.
In the league game, the Twins took a 4-0 lead after three innings and were able to make it stand up due to the pitching of Hunter Williams and Atticus Gibson.
Williams went 5 2-3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits while walking four and striking out four.
Gibson pitched the final 1 1-3, giving up no runs on two hits while striking out one.
The Twins were able to get the victory despite collecting just one hit. The local nine was able to take advantage of an Eagle River error and 15 walks by Eagle River pitchers.
Jace Crall had the hit for the Twins, while Jayden Stuyvesant had three walks and Braden Smith, Andrew Pieh, Charlie Chamberlain and Simon Grenier all had two walks.
Eagle River was able to bounce back in the nonleague game, shutting the Twins out on four hits while collecting 14 hits.
The Wolves had three runs in the first, one in the third, one in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Malakai Olson gave up four runs on five hits in three innings for the Twins, while Chamberlain gave up a run on three hits in 1 1-3 innings, Pieh gave up four runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning, Levi Mickelson pitched a scoreless inning and Zane Pellegrom gave up a hit and a run in an inning.
Olson finished 2 for 3 for the Twins, while Williams and Gibson also had hits.
