Seward girls get pair of conference wins

The host Homer boys basketball team got a big game from Peyton Edens to defeat Seward 56-35 on Saturday in Peninsula Conference action.

Edens had eight 3-pointers en route to 26 points for the Mariners, who are 1-1 and 5-5. Seward falls to 1-2 and 2-7.

Homer led 15-5 after a quarter and 27-14 at the half.

Also for the Mariners, Carter Tennison had 19, Ryan Carroll had six, Noah Irons had three and Tim Hatfield had two.

For Seward, Tommy Cronin had four 3-pointers on the way to 19 points. Also for the Seahawks, Ben Ambrosiani had six points, Nick Ambrosiani and Bergen Davis had four points, and Ozzy Deel had two points.

Seward girls 37, Homer 25

The visiting Seahawks moved to 2-1 in the Peninsula Conference and 3-6 overall with the Saturday victory over the Mariners. Homer is 1-1 and 4-4.

Seward led 18-15 at halftime, then took control in the second half.

Seward girls 45, Nikiski 28

The host Seahawks notched a Peninsula Conference victory to move to 1-1 in the league and 2-6 overall, while Nikiski is at 0-2 and 0-11.

Seward led 7-5 after a quarter, 22-13 at the half and 23-21 after three quarters.

Lena Jagielski had 14 for Seward, while Hannah Schilling and Shelby Sieminski each had 11. Also for the Seahawks, Wren Dougherty had four, Robin Cronin had three and Renee Elhard had two.

For the Bulldogs, Shelby Burman had seven, Rylee Ellis had six, Kinlee Jeffreys had five, Avery White had four, and Savanna Stock, Kailey Stynsberg and Emma Weeks had two.

Seward boys 57, Nikiski 49

The host Seahawks won in the Peninsula Conference on Friday to improve to 1-1 and 2-6, while Nikiski drops to 1-1 and 6-9.

Seward led 19-17 after a quarter, 28-23 at halftime and 41-33 after three quarters.

Tommy Cronin poured in 28 for the Seahawks, while Ben Ambrosiani added 11. Also for Seward, Bergen Davis had seven, Ozzy Deel had six and Nick Ambrosiani had five.
