2013 Soldotna graduate Kaillee Skjold scored a career-high 30 points Saturday for the University of Alaska Fairbanks, although the Nanooks still lost to Simon Fraser University 77-60.
The former SoHi star became just the fourth UAF player to score at least 30 points — and the first in six years — since the Nanooks joined the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in 2001.
Skjold’s previous career best was 22 points, set last year against Holy Names University. The junior guard shot 48 percent (12 of 25) from the floor in the performance and also brought down 12 rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists.
In 10 games this season, Skjold is averaging 11.9 points in nearly 30 minutes of game time per contest, and is shooting 46.7 percent from the floor.
