The Soldotna girls soccer team notched a 4-0 victory over Houston in nonconference action at Justin Maile Field at Soldotna High School.
The Stars, now 6-4-0 overall, led 1-0 at the half and received a shutout from Sunny Miller.
Morgan Lemm had a hat trick, with one goal assisted by Jazzalynn McDonald and Sadie Lane. The other goal was from Liberty Miller, assisted by Lane.
Soldotna boys 8, Houston 2
The host Stars are 6-2-1 after the Thursday nonconference victory.
Andrew Arthur sparked Soldotna with five goals. Owen Buckbee and Johnny Wardas had assists on the Arthur goals.
Also scoring for the Stars were Daniel Heath, Simon Willets from Lane Hillyer, and Wardas.
“We went up big pretty early and played JV and bench guys for the second half,” SoHi coach Erik Dolphin wrote in a text message.
Dolphin said Houston scored on a PK and a shot from 30 yards that was one of the best Dolphin has seen all season. The SoHi coach said many of his top players got in about 25 minutes as the team rested for a Saturday match against Grace.
Homer girls 3, Grace Christian 0
The host Mariners improved to 4-5-0 overall with the Thursday nonconference victory on senior night.
Felicia Weisser had the shutout in net for Homer, while Izzy Dye, Goldie Hill and Minadora Reutov had the goals.
The seniors honored for Homer were Anna Neland, Dye, Lauren Harris, Sidney Flora, Hannah Stonorov, Felicia Weisser and Cecilia Fitzpatrick.
Grace boys 4, Homer 2
The visiting Grizzlies grabbed a 3-0 lead at the half in dropping Homer to 3-5-1 with the nonconference loss on senior night.
“I am proud of the way my boys responded,” Homer coach Adam Diaz wrote in a text message. “We need to focus on in-game adjustments and find a pace we can all work at.
“We are looking forward to getting better one way or another.”
The goals came from Niko Sulczynski, assisted by Lucas Story, and Story, assisted by Thatcher Lowney.
The seniors honored for Homer were Jack Hrenchir, Anthony Basargin, Mo Techie, Sulczynski, Austin Hanson, Lowney, T. Cat, Theo McDonough, Bernie Black and Owen Pitzman.
