The visiting Soldotna softball team swept Houston on Saturday in Northern Lights Conference play by scores of 16-3 and 12-3. The Stars move to 4-4 in the league and 7-8 overall.
In the 16-3 victory, Bailey Conner was 2 for 3, Miah Mead was 3 for 4 with two runs, Brook Fischer was 3 for 4 with three runs, Isabelle Cruz was 2 for 3 with three runs, Makynzi Deborski was 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs, and Madison Richmond was 2 for 4.
Cruz pitched all five innings, allowing three runs on four hits while walking three and striking out six.
In the 12-3 victory, Emily Hinz was 2 for 3 with two runs, Mead had two RBIs, Cruz was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Alyssa McDonald was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIs.
Mead pitched all five innings, allowing three runs on three hits while walking seven and striking out eight.
Palmer sweeps Kenai
The host Palmer softball team notched a sweep over Kenai on Saturday in Northern Lights Conference action, taking 9-4 and 13-7 victories. The Kardinals are now 1-7 in the league and 4-13 overall.
In the 9-4 loss, Giselle Thomas was 2 for 4, Kailey Stynsberg was 2 for 3 with two runs and Caitlin Crabb was 3 for 4.
Crabb pitched six innings and gave up nine runs and 15 hits while walking two and striking out three.
In the 13-7 loss, Maggie Grenier was 2 for 4, Kyana Griskevich was 3 for 4 with two runs and Stynsberg was 2 for 4.
Libby Brinner, Crabb and Avery Ellis pitched for the Kardinals, with Brinner giving up four runs in 1 1-3 innings, Crabb yielding nine runs in three innings and Ellis throwing a scoreless 2 2-3 innings.
Kenai, Houston split
The visiting Kardinals split a Northern Lights Conference doubleheader with the Hawks on Friday, winning the first game 16-4 and losing the second game 15-10.
