The Soldotna baseball team started off the Southcentral Conference season by sweeping host Kodiak on Thursday.
The Stars took the first game 10-0, before winning the second game 15-3. Soldotna was originally scheduled to play conference games Thursday and today, but with bad weather expected in Kodiak, the conference doubleheader happened Thursday.
The teams will play a nonconference game today if the weather cooperates.
In the first game, Atticus Gibson and Andrew Pieh pitched the Stars to victory. Gibson had four shutout innings, while Pieh had two shutout innings. Riley Johnson and Nate Mowery had two hits for SoHi.
In the second game, Johnson pitched four shutout innings, while Derrick Jones gave up a run in two innings and Levi Mickelson gave up two runs in an inning. Mickelson, Johnson and Pieh each had two hits.
