Brandon Newbould, a 2000 graduate of Soldotna High School now living in Nottingham, New Hampshire, finished eighth at 51 minutes, 20 seconds, Saturday at the USATF Mountain Running Championships in North Conway, New Hampshire. The winner was Joseph Gray, 33, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 45:49. The course was 10 kilometers long and featured 3,000 feet of climbing with average grades of 17 percent. The top four in the men’s and women’s races qualified for the World Mountain Running Championships next month in Italy.
