SoHi track teams sweep SoHi Invitational

The Soldotna track and field teams swept the SoHi Invitational on Saturday at Soldotna High School.

The Soldotna boys scored 193 points to top the 175 of runner-up Grace Christian. Kenai was third, Homer was fourth, Seward was fifth, Cook Inlet Academy was sixth, Nikiski was seventh and Ninilchik was ninth.

The SoHi girls scored 230.5 points to run away with the meet, with Grace next at 99 points. Kenai was third, Homer was fourth, Seward was fifth, Nikiski was sixth and Ninilchik was eighth.

“I thought the kids competed hard,” Soldotna head coach Phil Leck said. “It was a great day.”

Trenton O’Reagan had a big day for the Stars, winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes, taking the long jump and anchoring the 800 relay to victory.

Dylan Dahlgren also won the shot put and discus for the SoHi boys. Leck said Dahlgren’s toss of 138-11 in the discus was one of the most outstanding marks of the day.

Soldotna also received a 400 victory from Nathanael Johnson, a 400 relay victory and a high jump victory from Jeren Nash.

James Sparks won the 110 hurdles and triple jump for Kenai, while the Kards also took the 1,600 relay and saw Maison Dunham win the 800 in 2:00.71. Leck said that was another time that stood out on the day, as well as Dunham’s winning anchor leg on the 1,600 relay.

While the Soldotna girls dominated the girls meet, that didn’t stop Homer’s Laura Inama from having a big day. Inama won the 100, 300 hurdles, was a part of the winning 1,600 relay and took the long jump.

Erika Arthur also piled up wins for the Stars, taking the 800, 1,600 and running on the winning 3,200 relay. Autumn Fisher swept the shot put and discus for Soldotna. SoHi also won the 400 relay, 800 relay, got a victory from Katelyn Morrison in the high jump and Drysta Crosby-Schneider in the triple jump.

The unified victories went to Kenai’s Micah Porter in the 100, shot put and long jump, Homer’s Stella Dye in the 100 and long jump, and Homer’s Angelica Haakenson in the shot put.
