SoHi wrestlers take 4th at Houston Altercation

The Soldotna wrestling team finished fourth at the season-opening Houston Altercation Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Houston High School.

Colony won the tournament with 235 points, while South Anchorage was just behind with 230 points. The Stars had 144 points, while Nikiski was 13th with 50 points.

The Stars received championships from Jacob Strausbaugh at 103 pounds, Liam Babitt at 215 and Trinity Donovan at girls 160.

Strausbaugh won at 103 with a couple of pins in both of his rounds of wrestling. Babitt pinned his way through the bracket, finishing with a pin of Britten Hamilton of South in the final. Donovan pinned opponents in all four of her rounds for the victory.

Also for the Stars, Tustin Keller was second at 103, Hunter Richardson was second at 189, Jessica Leclair was second at girls 112, Daisy Hannevold was second at girls 135, Logan Duyck was fourth at 145 and Erin Bell was sixth at girls 160.

Mayaac Schmit led the Bulldogs by finishing third at 285, while Simon Grenier was fourth at 189.
