McDonald named to preliminary roster for U.S. Junior National Team
Cam McDonald, who played for the Kenai River Brown Bears in the 2017-18 season, has been named to the preliminary roster for the U.S. Junior National Team.
After playing for Kenai River, McDonald went on to the Muskegon (Michigan) Lumberjacks of the Tier I United States Hockey League in 2018-19.
McDonald, of Eagle River, is now at Division I powerhouse Providence College, where last season as a freshman he had three goals and three assists. According to the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame Alaska Sports Blog, all three of McDonald’s goals were game-winners, tied for No. 1 in the NCAA among freshmen defensemen.
The Alaska Sports Blog said McDonald is one of nine defensemen on the prelim roster. McDonald will try to make the team at a camp from Sunday to Thursday in Plymouth, Michigan.
