Soldotna baseball topples Houston

The Soldotna baseball team defeated Houston 14-3 in five innings on Thursday at the Soldotna Little League fields in Northern Lights Conference play.

The Stars, now 1-1 in the league and 3-3 overall, were in control the entire way, leading 10-0 after two innings and 14-0 after four innings.

Levi Mickelson pitched 3 1-3 scoreless innings for SoHi, then Wyatt Gagnon gave up three runs in an inning. Andrew Pieh closed by getting two outs without allowing a run or a hit.

Evan Appelhans was 3 for 4 with four RBIs for the Stars, while Derrick Jones had two runs, Mickelson was 2 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs, Pieh had two runs and Tucker Blough had two runs.
