Soldotna’s Newbould runs 10th-fastest Alaskan marathon time

Soldotna’s Brandon Newbould put his name among the state’s best marathoners with a personal best time Oct. 22.

Newbould, 36, won the Baystate Marathon in Lowell, Massachusetts, with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, 51.4 seconds, placing him 10th on the list of fastest marathon times by Alaskan runners. David Morris tops the list with a 2:09:32 from 1999.

The 2000 SoHi graduate beat out a field of 1,353 runners in the race to win his second Baystate Marathon, his first win coming in 2009.
