South notched a Sunday sweep of the Alaska 20, notching a 4-1 Alliance Baseball League victory and an 11-1 nonleague victory.
Alaska 20 falls to 1-2 in the league and 2-10 overall, while South moves to 3-1 in the league and 11-1 overall.
In the league game, South’s Josh McGovern was able to outduel Alaska 20’s Mose Hayes.
Hayes pitched 5 1-3 innings, giving up four hits and four runs — three of which were earned. Hayes walked six and struck out four.
McGovern pitched six innings and gave up four hits and a run while walking five and striking out six.
Sam Berry got the last two outs for the Alaska 20, while Josh Costello pitched a scoreless frame for South.
South took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, Alaska 20 cut it to 2-1 in the top of the fifth, and South scored two more in the bottom of the sixth.
Berry, Tanner Ussing, Atticus Gibson and Jacob Belger had hits for the Twins, while Davey Belger had the run and Berry had the RBI.
Both teams played errorless baseball.
In the nonleague game, South put the mercy rule in effect after the fifth inning.
Berry, Ussing, Gibson and Davey Belger pitched for Alaska 20. Caden Bevengi pitched all five innings for South, giving up two hits and a run while walking two and striking out six.
Davey Belger had a hit and an RBI for the Twins, while Karl Wickstrom had a hit and a run.
The Twins face Eagle River on the road in a 1 p.m. league and 4 p.m. nonleague game Wednesday.
