SST competition slated for today
The semiannual Speed and Strength Training (SST) event will kick off its fifth year of competition today at 6 p.m. at Kenai Central High School.
With two competitions held in a single academic year, the event pits Kenai, Soldotna and Nikiski athletes against each other in shows of strength, endurance and speed. Today’s SST contest will test two males and two females from each level in a freshman/sophomore division and a junior/senior division. The student athletes will compete in the standing long jump, vertical jump, I-test (or shuttle run), 40-yard dash and the popular Fight Gone Bad event, which will feature an updated version.
The event is free of charge.
