The Peninsula Oilers lost 5-3 to the Anchorage Bucs on Sunday in Alaska Baseball League play at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
The Bucs (3-3 in the ABL) jumped out to a 5-0 lead through seven innings and the three runs the Oilers (2-3) put up in the final two innings were not enough.
Connor Throneberry got the start for the Oilers and gave up two runs in the first inning, but then settled down.
Throneberry went four innings, giving up two runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four.
The Oilers then closed out the game with a pair of Homer High School and American Legion Twins products on the mound.
Harrison Metz went two innings and gave up two runs on a hit while walking two and striking out one.
Mose Hayes went the final two innings, giving up a run on two hits while walking two.
The Oilers ended up with seven hits to the eight of the Bucs.
Ben Griffin was 2 for 4 for Peninsula, while Josiah Chavez was 2 for 3.
The Oilers continue with a season-opening road trip of 10 games in 10 days Monday, when they face the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at 6 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.
