The visiting Kenai Central baseball team lost 5-4 to Houston on Thursday in Northern Lights Conference play.
The Hawks scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to drop the Kardinals to 5-3 in the league and 7-3 overall.
Kenai led 1-0 after the second inning, but Houston led 2-1 after three innings. Kenai grabbed a 4-2 lead in the top of the fifth.
Everett Chamberlain went five innings for Kenai, yielding two runs — one earned — on four hits while walking two and striking out one. Jackson Marion gave up three unearned runs on two hits in 1 2-3 innings. Marion walked three and struck out one.
Marion was 2 for 3 at the plate for the Kards, while Jacob Joanis was 2 for 4.
Palmer 11, Homer 5
The visiting Mariners fell in Thursday Northern Lights Conference play to fall to 5-7 overall and 4-5 in the league.
The Palmer offense poured it on in the first four innings, scoring four in the first, one in the second, three in the third and three in the fourth to take an 11-3 lead.
Malachi Raymond, Camden Wise and Preston Stanislaw were all 2 for 3 for the Mariners.
Weston Marley pitched the first four innings, giving up 11 runs — 10 earned — on 13 hits. Malachi Raymond finished with two scoreless innings, giving up two hits.
