The Mat-Su Miners defeated the Peninsula Oilers 10-4 on Thursday in Alaska Baseball League action at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
The Miners jumped out to a 9-0 lead after three innings in dropping the Oilers to 2-3 on the current eight-day, nine-game road trip.
The road trip continues when Peninsula travels to Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage for a game at 6 p.m. Friday.
The Anchorage Bucs lead the league at 15-5, while the Oilers and Miners are 10-9, the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks are 7-11 and the Anchorage Glacier Pilots are 8-16.
The Miners were able to get to Oilers starter Jacob Tabor for nine runs — seven earned — on five hits in three innings.
Brock Wirthgen turned in a solid relief performance after that, lasting four innings while giving up a run on four hits. Cole Dawson pitched a scoreless inning.
For the Miners, Noah Kendrick pitched four innings of shutout ball, allowing five hits while striking out five.
Robert Burk III then gave up four runs on four hits in 2 1-3 innings, while Aidan Dolinsky pitched 1 2-3 scoreless innings and Nolan Murphy had a scoreless frame.
Christian Perez was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run for the Miners.
For the Oilers, Petey Soto was 2 for 4 with a run, while Cole Dawson was 2 for 5 with a run.
