Tuesday hoops: Nikolaevsk clashes with Ninilchik

The Wolverines settled for a split Tuesday evening at home against the Warriors in Peninsula Conference action.

The Ninilchik boys toppled Nikolaevsk 64-54, sending the Warriors to their first conference loss of the season. Ninilchik exploded out of the gates with 28 points, led by 13 from Austin White, en route to a 35-30 lead at halftime. White ended the night with 17 points (all in the first half), while teammate Dalton Geppert notched a game-high 19. Jonah Fefelov led Nikolaevsk with 16 points.

Ninilchik outscored Nikolaevsk 15-9 in the third quarter, then held off the Warriors to seal the win.

In the girls game, Nikolaevsk topped Ninilchik 37-32, led by Nadejda Gordeev with 10 points. Olivia Delgado and Krista Sinclair led Ninilchik with eight points each.

Ninilchik led 21-17 at the half, but the Warriors closed that gap to 25-24 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth frame, Nikolaevsk outscored Ninilchik 13-7 to take the win.
