The game between the Peninsula Oilers and Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks scheduled for Tuesday at Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak was postponed due to rain.
The game will be made up in 4 p.m. doubleheader July 3 at Lee Jordan Field.
With no Oilers game, Oilers fans had free time to watch Drew Thorpe of the Chicago White Sox make his major league debut Tuesday at the Seattle Mariners.
Thorpe, who pitched for the Oilers in 2019, went five innings and gave up two runs — one earned — on three hits while walking two and striking out four.
He had a no decision in the 4-3 loss for the White Sox.
Thorpe was originally scheduled to pitch against Bryan Woo, who earned the Alaska Baseball League Prospect of the Year while pitching for the Oilers in 2019.
According to The Seattle Times, the Mariners did an MRI on the elbow on Woo’s pitching arm. While the team awaits results, Woo didn’t make his scheduled start.
Woo is off to a 3-0 start with a 1.07 ERA in 33 2-3 innings.
