The American Legion Post 20 Twins split a doubleheader with West on Saturday in Anchorage.
The Twins are now 0-2 in the league and 1-2 overall, while the Post 1 Eagles are 1-1 and 4-2.
Post 20 lost the league game 3-0. Makai Baylous pitched seven shutout innings for the Eagles, giving up only three hits and a walk while striking out five. He threw 59 of his 78 pitches for strikes.
Hits for the Twins came from Gabe Smith, Jayden Stuyvesant and Levi Mickelson.
Hunter Williams had a shutout inning for the Twins, allowing a hit and two walks.
Jacob Joanis pitched six innings, yielding three runs on five hits while walking two and striking out four.
In the nonleague game, the Twins got their offense rolling and showed off depth at pitching.
Post 20 took seven walks and had seven hits in the game. Smith was 2 for 2 with three runs and an RBI, while Stuyvesant had three RBIs and was 1 for 3, and Williams scored three runs.
Kalani Beddow, Gabe Joanis, Derrick Jones and Levi Mickelson had hits for the Twins.
Post 20 used five pitchers on the mound. Gabe Joanis started and went two innings, giving up three runs on four hits while walking four. Stuyvesant also pitched two innings, giving up an unearned run on a hit.
Jones recorded an out, giving up a walk. Mickelson gave up a walk in 1 2-3 innings. Pieh gave up a run on a hit and walk while striking out one in one inning.
