Twins sweep Palmer

The American Legion Twins improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in league play with a sweep of Palmer in a doubleheader Thursday in Anchorage.

The Twins won the first game, a league contest, 13-2 in five innings before notching a 12-8 win in the nonleague game.

In the first game, Gavin Petterson went all five innings for the Twins to record the win.

Petterson gave up four hits and two runs — one earned — while walking one and striking out six.

The Twins pounded out 15 hits at the plate.

Paul Steffensen was 3 for 4, Josh Darrow had a pair of runs, Joey Becher was 2 for 3 with three runs, Calvin Hills was 3 for 4 with three runs and JJ Sonnen was 3 for 3 with three RBIs.
