The Homer Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Homer High School, also featured a pentathlon, where athletes competed in the high jump, 100- or 110-meter hurdles, 800, long jump and shot put.
On the boys side, Kenai Central’s Josh Jackman won with 2,694 points, while Kenai’s Ross Hanson was second with 2,294 and Kodiak’s Andreas Carros was third at 2,256. The other seven entrants were Kodiak’s Wesley Walker at 2,192, Lane Kaltenbach of Anchorage Christian Schools at 2,019, Wasilla’s Beau Cork at 1,981, Palmer’s Tyler Spatz at 1,943, Grace’s Riley Martin at 1,914, Timothy Stoorza of ACS at 1,907 and Wasilla’s Kaleb Greathouse at 1,773.
The top girls finisher was Grace’s Annie Vanderweide at 2,349, while Homer’s Lauren Evarts was runner-up at 2,205 and Kenai’s Katie Kilfoyle was third at 1,762. The other four entrants were Kodiak’s Raen Barcelon at 1,750, Kenai’s Julieanne Wilson at 1,701, Alexis Quick of ACS at 1,589 and Palmer’s Ruby Woodings at 1,348.
