The visiting Homer softball team defeated Redington 24-2 in two innings Wednesday in Northern Lights Conference action. The Mariners improved to 1-0 in the league and 1-7-1 overall.
Ariana Davis had three runs and two RBIs for Homer, while Charlotte Fraley had four runs, Alaiyah Brost had four runs, Becca Trowbridge was 2 for 2 with three runs and three RBIs, Julie Guess had three runs and two RBIs, Keagan Niebuhr was 3 for 3 with two runs and six RBIs, and Sydney Shelby had two runs.
Trowbridge pitched both innings, giving up two runs on no hits while walking six and striking out four.
Kodiak sweeps Homer
The Kodiak softball team swept a Northern Lights Conference doubleheader from Soldotna on Wednesday in the Valley. The Stars are 0-2 in the league and 0-2 overall.
Kodiak won the first game 13-1. For SoHi, Alyssa McDonald was 2 for 2 with two triples and an RBI and Tatum Cooper was 1 for 2. Isabelle Cruz took the loss on the mound, but had five strikeouts.
Kodiak won the second game 7-5, with SoHi loading the bases in the final inning. Cooper was 1 for 1 with two walks, McDonald was 1 for 3 and Cruz was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Kiara Forkner took the loss on the mound.
