Weekend volleyball roundup

The visiting Soldotna volleyball team defeated Colony on Friday and Saturday in Northern Lights Conference play to move to 5-2 in the league and 8-4 in nontournament play.

Friday, the Stars won 25-21, 27-25 and 25-22.

Sarah Brown had 18 digs, while Veronica Crane had 10. Brown also had 27 assists.

Morgan Simac and Hallie Fischer each had eight kills, while Cassidy Kruse had eight blocks and Fischer had five.

Sadie Lane had three aces, while Brown had two.

Saturday, the Stars won 25-19, 17-25, 25-19 and 25-19.

Crane had 16 digs, while Simac had 14.

Brown had 41 assists, with Simac getting 11 kills, Fischer and Lane getting 10 apiece, Kruse getting eight and Abygale Schaeffer collecting five.

Fischer had five blocks, while Kruse had four and Simac had three.

Dexter had four aces, while Veronica Crane had two.

Kenai topples Grace, MCCA

Host Kenai defeated Grace Christian on Friday and Mountain City Christian Academy on Saturday to move to 8-0 in the Southcentral Conference and 11-0 overall.

Friday, Kenai won 25-10, 25-12 and 25-13.

Sophie Tapley had 14 kills, while Avia Miller had eight and Ellsi Miller had four.

Brynnen Hansen had 21 digs, while Kate Wisnewski had 13, Stella Selanoff had 13, and Tapley and Tait Cooper each had seven.

Wisnewski had 56 assists, while Ellsi Miller had three blocks and Tapley had two. Wisnewski had three aces, while Sarah Baisden, Tapley and Selanoff each had two.

Saturday, Kenai won 25-16, 25-23, 24-26 and 25-22.

Avia Miller had 10 kills, while Tapley had nine, Baisden had eight and Selanoff had seven.

Selanoff had 26 digs, while Tapley had 25 and Hansen had 23. Gracee Every had 27 assists, while Every, Selanoff and Tapley each had a block. Tapley had seven aces, while Selanoff had four.

Nikiski sweeps Houston

The host Bulldogs defeated the Hawks 25-7, 25-6 and 25-14 on Saturday to move to 6-1 in the Southcentral Conference and 6-2 in nontournament play.

Kailey Stynsberg had 12 digs for the Bulldogs, while Avery Ellis had 14 assists.

Ashlynne Playle had eight kills, while Mandee Roofe and Blakeley Jorgensen each had five kills.

Roofe led with three blocks.

Milly Hornung had five aces, while Ellis had four aces.

Homer sweeps Houston

The host Mariners moved to 4-2 in the Southcentral Conference and 5-3 overall with the Friday win.

Homer coach Ian Overson said it was nice to get the win despite being short-handed.

“Everyone stepped up their game since it was our last home game of the season,” Overson wrote.

Seward tops MCCA, Grace

The host Seahawks moved to 4-5 in the Southcentral Conference and 7-9 in nontournament play by defeating MCCA 3-1 on Friday and Grace 3-0 on Saturday.
