The Seward girls and boys wrestling teams won the Bad to the Bone tournament in Seward on Friday and Saturday.
The team scores combined the girls and boys teams. Seward hit for a total of 217, while Nikiski was second with 198.5, Kenai Central was third with 155, Grace Christian was fourth with 149.5, Homer was fifth with 118.5 and Soldotna was sixth with 80.
The Mariners had the bulk of their team at the Bush Brawl in Kotzebue, while the Stars had the bulk of their team at the Colony Invitational in Palmer.
Winning titles for the Seward boys were Tommy Jarnig at 103 pounds, Ridge Conant at 119, Emery Kirchner at 130, Hunter Forshee-Kurtz at 135 and Anthony Smith at 152.
Also for the Seahawks boys, Quinn Humbert was third at 125, Janniel Peraza was fifth at 125, Avery Staggs was fifth at 135, Tristen Earhart was fourth at 140 and Alex Fink was third at 145.
Kat Noll nabbed a title for the Seward girls at 120. Also for the Seahawks girls, Olive Jordan was second at 114, Isabel Jones was third at 120 and Alta Liljemark was third at 145.
For the Nikiski boys, Wyatt Maguire captured the championship at 140, Rex Wittmer won at 215 and Breaker Schmit won at 285.
Also for the Bulldogs boys, Aiden Quiner was second at 112, Noah Playle was sixth at 130, Jaxson Young was second at 135, Merrick Roofe was fourth at 135, Jack Nelson was seventh at 140, Darren Powell was sixth at 140, Kaiden Parrish was fourth at 145, Jacob Isabell was seventh at 152, Sloan Wittmer was fifth at 152, Trigger McCaughey was third at 152, Connor Ley was fourth at 160, Brody Nelson was second at 160 and Mason Doth was fourth at 171.
Winning titles for the Nikiski girls were Braylynn Young at 145 and Elliana Isabell at 165. Also for the Bulldogs girls, Willow Lahndt was fourth at 120, Jade Hemphill was second at 120, Addison Perkins was second at 145 and Charlee Sullivan was fifth at 145.
Collecting titles for the Kenai girls were Kaiser DesOrmeaux at 125, Keagan Stanley at 160 and Thaddeus Lingenfelter at 189.
Also for the Kenai boys, Gunnar Stanley was second at 140, Schyler Johnson was second at 145, Cody Holmes was eighth at 152, Leighton Wilshusen was fifth at 171, Atlas Ruark was second at 171, Jason Johnson was third at 189, Neil King was fourth at 189, Brandon Blake was fourth at 215, Aiden Petla was third at 215 and Cecil Newcomb-Hammer was second at 285.
Jadeyn Jacko collected a title for the Kenai girls at 132, while Layla Anderson was second at 132.
Homer’s lone championship came from Storey Cook at 114 girls.
For the Mariners boys, Tristan Alward was third at 112, Eddie Uwekoolani IV was third at 130, Rod Stokes was third at 135, Ty Gibby was third at 140, Vincent Black was fourth at 152, Alexander Van Meter was third at 171, Tristan Overholt was second at 189 and Zachariah Anderson was fourth at 285.
Also for the Homer girls, Ryan Alcorta was fourth at 145.
Aaron Granados was Soldotna’s lone champ, coming through at 112.
Also for the Stars boys, Tanner Hough was fourth at 103, Jaden Yeager was third at 119, Sam Frederickson was fourth at 130, Jackson Anding was second at 152, Kodiak Upton was fifth at 160, Riley Vacek was sixth at 171, Tomas Engler-Faavae was fifth at 189 and Calvin Lyman was third at 285.
Colony wins Colony Invitational at Palmer
The Colony girls and boys wrestling teams combined for 364 points to win the Colony Invitational on Saturday in Palmer.
Soldotna’s girls and boys scored 306.5 points to finish second, while Student Wrestling Development Program was third with 270.
Winning titles for the Soldotna boys were Sam Henry at 103, Ryan Buchanan at 125, Carson Cobb at 130, Jacob Strausbaugh at 135, Michael Dickinson at 152, and Hunter Bras at 160.
Also for the SoHi boys, Ryatt Weed was fourth at 152 and Anthony Payne was third at 171.
The Stars girls received championships from Valarie McAnelly at 107, Mia Hannevold at 114, Rowan Peck at 126 and Infinity-Ann Asiata-Haga at 165.
Also for SoHi, Naomi Keller was second at 100, Carrisa Heitstuman was second at 145 and Bella Byrd was third at 152.
Homer boys win Bush Brawl at Kotzebue
The Homer boys were first among 16 scoring teams at the Bush Brawl in Kotzebue on Friday and Saturday.
The Mariners had 269.5 points, while Nome was second with 176.
The Kotzebue girls were the top girls team with 111 points, while Galena was second with 62 and Homer was fourth with 34.
The Homer boys received titles from Luca Fitzpatrick at 112, Paul Minke at 145 and Brayden Woods at 171.
Also for Homer, Maxwell Barker was fourth at 119, Asher Faucher was third at 125, Jadon Weisser was second at 130, Daniel Kulikov was second at 135, Zayne Adams was second at 140, Justus Grimes was second at 145, Landyn Woods was second at 160, Isaiah Mann was second at 171, Gaius Taylor was third at 189 and Shea Yatchmeneff was second at 285.
For the Homer girls, Christabelle Minke won the title at 120.
